Cleveland Ecumenical Institute

10-04-2007

April 10-21, 2007
Spend a week with IPM Staff from Cleveland getting to know a side of Italy that is not typically seen on traditional tours. From gathering with international NGO leaders to meeting a community of nuns who work to stop human trafficking, you will witness firsthand the many ways poverty is addressed in the world. And, even with these once-in-a-lifetime meetings, you will still have time to enjoy the history and art of Assisi, Florence, Orvieto, Rome, and Siena.

Sample activities include:
• Meet with IPM Project Partner Speranza II, which provides a safe haven and skills training for women rescued from trafficking for sexual exploitation
• Tour “religious” Rome, including the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums
• Travel to Conca dei Marini on the Amalfi Coast
• Walking tour of historic Rome: Circus Maximus, il Colosseo, San Pedro in Vincoli, Forum, and the Pantheon
• Lunch with Peter Onyango, Project Coordinator of IPM Project Partner Unyolo Village Improve Project (Unyolo, KENYA), who resides in Italy
• Walking tour of Siena including il Campo and Palazzo Publico
• Daylong tour of Florence including: L’Academia, il Duomo, Santa Croce, and Ponte Vecchio
• Meet with NGO leaders working with development issues at the United Nations
