Josera Street Children Project

Project Overview:

Josera Street Children (Nakuru, KENYA) provides a daycare and nursery school for children of the Mchanganyiko village in Nakuru.  IPM funds help support an outreach program that benefits street children to care for their mental, physical, and spiritual needs through education, counseling, peer education and providing food and shelter.

Recent Accomplishments:

• Decrease in the number of street children

• Provided the children with basic needs such as shelter, food, and clothes.

• Provided the children with medication and education

Goals for 2008:

• Rehabilitation of the children through provision of an environment that is hospitable and conducive to growth.

• Provision of food, shelter, clothing and education

• Counseling and AIDS related education

 • Training children to become peer counselors to other children in the schools and in the area
