Come with IPM to the Dominican Republic and find the deeper meaning behind this vacation hot spot.
Explore this country’s rich culture and learn about the challenges it has faced since the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti. You’ll visit IPM’s Project Partners in the country and learn how local groups are working in partnership with their Haitian neighbors to promote justice, peace, and hope for children, women and youth.
Day 1: Arrive in Santo Domingo.
Day 2: Take a driving tour of historical Santo Domingo, learning about the history of the Dominican Republic and this urban center, then drive to El Cercado for an overnight, either with host families or at a retreat center.
Day 3: Spend time with legal rights workers and IPM Project Partner El Cercado Agricultural Nursuries.
Day 4: Spend the day with IPM Project Partners: El Cercado Community Development and the Women’s Nutritional Program, visiting their many initiatives including a bakery, agricultural nurseries, peanut butter nutrition project, and more.
Day 5: Visit a primary school in El Cercado in the morning and meet with local youth groups.
Day 6: Return to Santo Domingo, stopping en route at Biyeya Beach for lunch. Share a final reflection in Santo Domingo.
Day 7: Depart for the United States.
