Travel with IPM on an Immersion Experience to Nepal!

Immerse yourself in this country’s fertile landscapes, meet its inspiring people, and learn about its complex history while visiting its many famous attractions. You’ll visit IPM’s Project Partners and learn how local groups in Nepal are working to promote justice, peace, and hope for children, women and youth.

Day 1: Depart the United States for Nepal.

Day 2: Arrive in Kathmandu and travel to the guest house.

Day 3: Visit IPM Project Partner Calendar Project at the Social Work Institute (SWI) for program overview and introduction to Nepal’s political and social history. Then tour the Social Work Institute¸ a multi-faceted development organization, and talk with its staff & students about the work they do.

Day 4: Travel to Chitwan National Park, Nepal’s first and most famous park, known for its rich wildlife and lush terrain, and spend the afternoon with Seed Tree Nepal, an initiative that promotes sustainable use of forests and natural resources.

Day 5: Go on an elephant ride through Chitwan National Park, followed by a dugout canoe ride and guided hike. Later, travel to Bandipur for overnight with host families.

Day 6: Spend the day with host families and tour the village. Visit the Bandipur Women’s Cooperative Office and observe women’s groups working in the Calendar Project at SWI.

Day 7: Return to Kathmandu for some rest at the guest house and later tour the Asan Tole, Kathmandu’s outdoor bazaar.

Day 8: Embark on an optional flight over the Himalayan Mountains, have lunch at the Mitrata Children’s Home, tour Boudhanath Buddhist Stupa & Pashupatinath Hindu Temples, and experience the Newari Cultural Dinner & Dance at Wunjala’s.

Day 9: Go on a tour of Patan City and shop at the local fair trade shops.

Day 10: Take a walk with the students from Mitrata Children’s Home to visit their homes and school, followed by sightseeing in Kathmandu

Day 11: Share final reflections with program participants, then depart for the United States.

Day 12: Arrive home in the United States.
